Redevelopment has two sides.

Saw this article today on affordable housing developments in San Diego. You may remember several months ago the Council fulfilled it's obligation to farmworker housing and paid over $400,000 per unit to an affordable housing developer for the Central Station Townhomes at Main and Mountain View.

Okay - Time for some fun

I love to write. I try to write every day but somehow find my eyes closing against my will as I sit down to journal in the evenings. So, I'm making an effort to rise earlier in the mornings so I can do some writing. Of course, it helps to be in the Sierras on a beautiful, clear morning with a good cup of coffee!

So, I hope I can sustain some writing as I try to write about my experiences as a Mayor and Councilwoman in Fillmore. My other intent is to inform citizens of some of the issues and events happening in Fillmore from my point of view. We get a point of view in the weekly paper, the Gazette, but as many have pointed out to me, that view is misleading and untruthful. Sadly, it is also demoralizing and destructive to the community. So, let's get some balanced information out there!

Right now, the Council is "dark". This is the time that council and staff get a vacation, so to speak. While all are still working on issues and projects, there are no council meetings scheduled until August 23rd. The amount of work that goes in to a council meeting is significant. Agenda and staff report preparation, printing, posting and delivery take effort and time, so all look forward to this opportunity to catch up on the backlog.

Thus, my ability to do some fun writing and work on some of my "pet projects". More about that next time.
